1 House Resolution
2 A resolution commending the Freemasons and
3 Michael A. Padron, Jr., for their contributions
4 to the citizens of the state.

6 WHEREAS, Freemasonry began in medieval times and has
7 been organized since the 18th century, and
8 WHEREAS, Freesmasonry was transplanted to the American
9 colonies by English and Irish masons during the early decades
10 of the 18th century, and as early as 1734, Benjamin Franklin
11 was Grand Master of Masons in Pennslyvania, and
12 WHEREAS, Michael A. Padron, Jr., was born June 2, 1934,
13 in Key West, where he continues to reside with his wife, Sara
14 Ann "Sally," and
15 WHEREAS, having received his formal education in the
16 Florida Keys, his endeavors led him into the world of
17 business, first as a residential contractor, until, through
18 many career expansions, he currently owns and operates Michael
19 A. Padron Construction, and
20 WHEREAS, Michael A. Padron, Jr., began his involvement
21 in Freemasonry as a member of DeMolay and, at the age of 21,
22 he was raised to the degree of Master Mason in Dr. Felix
23 Varela Lodge No. 64, the oldest Spanish-speaking lodge in
24 Florida, chartered in 1873, in which he has served his fellow
25 brothers and community for 34 years, reaching the pinnacle of
26 his blue lodge career by being elected Worshipful Master in
27 1989, and
28 WHEREAS, in 1990, Michael A. Padron, Jr., was appointed
29 District Deputy Grand Master of the 30th Masonic District;
30 served as Grand Tyler and on the Masonic Home Board of
31 Trustees in 1991 and 1992, respectively; and, on May 24, 1993,

1 was elected Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Florida,
2 and continues to be extensively involved in activities within
3 Freemasonry in the state, and
4 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House
5 of Representatives of the State of Florida pause in its
6 deliberations to honor the Freemasons and Michael A. Padron,
7 Jr., for their contributions to the state, NOW, THEREFORE,
8
9 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
10 Florida:

12 That the House of Representatives of the State of
13 Florida hereby commends the Freemasons of Florida and Michael
14 A. Padron, Jr., for their contributions to the citizens of
15 this state and hereby accords this expression in recognition
16 and appreciation of the invaluable service thus rendered to
17 the state.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
19 be presented to Michael A. Padron, Jr., Grand Master of
20 Florida of the Order of Freemasons, as a tangible token of the
21 sentiments expressed herein.
