  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring the Miami Senior High

  3         School boys' basketball team, the Stingarees.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Miami Senior High School boys' basketball

  6  team, the Stingarees, was the runner-up in the boys'

  7  basketball state championships in 1926, 1936, 1943, 1953,

  8  1959, and 1992, and

  9         WHEREAS, the Miami Senior High School Stingarees won

10  the boys' basketball state championships in 1925, 1931, 1935,

11  1942, 1944, 1948, 1949, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1987, 1989, 1990,

12  1991, 1993, and 1996, and

13         WHEREAS, the Miami Senior High School Stingarees,

14  coached by head coach Frank Martin and assistant coaches

15  Bernard Wright, Benny Valdes, Fred Regueira, and Mark Baranek,

16  once again won the Boys' Basketball Class 6A State

17  Championship in 1997, NOW, THEREFORE,

19  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

20  Florida:

22         That the House of Representatives hereby honors the

23  achievements of the Miami Senior High School boys' basketball

24  team, the Stingarees, for its past championships and for

25  continuing in its excellent tradition by winning the 1997 High

26  School Boys' Basketball Class 6A State Championship.

27         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

28  be presented to the Miami Senior High School Stingarees boys

29  basketball team as a tangible token of the sentiments

30  expressed herein.
