  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the last Sunday of

  3         April as National Single Parents Day.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the National Single Parents Resource Center,

  6  Inc., was founded on May 14, 1992, in Boca Raton, Florida, and

  7         WHEREAS, the National Single Parents Resource Center,

  8  Inc., as a nonprofit educational, support, resource, and

  9  social organization whose goals are to make life easier for

10  children, parents, and grandparents who have faced divorce

11  issues, is sponsoring National Single Parents Day, and

12         WHEREAS, the purpose of Single Parents Day is to give

13  recognition and support to single-parent families, and

14         WHEREAS, encouraging cooperation and harmony between

15  all family members can lead to the reduction of negative

16  behavior patterns and establish healthier relationships in

17  families, and

18         WHEREAS, the National Single Parents Resource Center,

19  Inc., provides information on various issues of interest to

20  single-parent families, and

21         WHEREAS, the National Single Parents Resource Center,

22  Inc., promotes businesses that recognize, understand, and

23  offer assistance to single parents, and

24         WHEREAS, the goals of National Single Parents Day are

25  to initiate educational and support programs, encourage more

26  family time and extra visitation for the noncustodial parent,

27  and provide a day to turn to a single parent and say "I can

28  help you," NOW, THEREFORE,

30  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

31  Florida:

  1         That the last Sunday in April is declared Single

  2  Parents Day.

  3         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  4  be presented to the National Single Parents Resource Center,

  5  Inc., as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
