  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing Reverend George Price

  3         and the members of the St. Matthew Baptist

  4         Church of Jacksonville, Florida, for their

  5         community service through their St. Matthew

  6         Christian Community Care Center and Health

  7         Clinic.

  8

  9         WHEREAS, George Alfred Price was born in Jacksonville,

10  Florida, in 1937, was ordained in San Antonio, Texas, in 1959,

11  and returned to Jacksonville and became Pastor at St. Matthew

12  Baptist Church in 1963, and

13         WHEREAS, the leadership of Reverend Price has been

14  inspirational and far-reaching and the enthusiastic and

15  energetic willingness of the members of the St. Matthew

16  Baptist Church to respond to that leadership has been

17  exemplary, and

18         WHEREAS, on September 17, 1995, the St. Matthew

19  Christian Community Care Center, a vision of Reverend Price,

20  was dedicated to provide programs of support and counsel to

21  those in the community who are physically, emotionally,

22  socially, and spiritually despondent, including a morning call

23  program to check on and aid those who are sick or otherwise

24  homebound, a referral program for funding and other assistance

25  from agencies other than the church, and a clothing ministry,

26  and

27         WHEREAS, on September 15, 1996, the St. Matthew

28  Christian Community Health Clinic, an extension of the

29  community care center, was dedicated to promote preventive

30  health care by providing primary and specialty health care

  1  services to the noninsured and medically underserved and those

  2  who have no other medical resources, and

  3         WHEREAS, Reverend Price and the members of the St.

  4  Matthew Baptist Church are performing invaluable community

  5  service to the citizens of Jacksonville and the State of

  6  Florida that deserves to be recognized and commended, NOW,

  7  THEREFORE,

  9  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

10  Florida:

11

12         That the Reverend George Price and the members of the

13  St. Matthew Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida, are

14  recognized and commended for their exemplary efforts and

15  invaluable community service to the citizens of Jacksonville

16  and the State of Florida through their St. Matthew Christian

17  Community Care Center and Health Clinic.
