  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Duval County

  3         Chapter of The Charmettes, Inc.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the 42nd annual convention of The Charmettes,

  6  Inc., will be held May 15 through May 17, 1997, in

  7  Jacksonville, Florida, and

  8         WHEREAS, The Charmettes, Inc., is a national civic

  9  organization of women, consisting of 17 chapters throughout

10  the United States, and

11         WHEREAS, the Duval County Chapter of The Charmettes,

12  Inc., which began in 1970 with the commitment to being a force

13  in the community, will host the convention, and

14         WHEREAS, the hosting chapter is annually involved in

15  major community activities, focusing its time and energy on

16  enhancing the lives of others, especially children and the

17  elderly, and

18         WHEREAS, the chapter annually assists the American

19  Cancer Society and the residents of Morris Manor and supports

20  scholarship activities, and

21         WHEREAS, it is fitting that the fifteen members of the

22  Duval County Chapter of The Charmettes, Inc., be recognized as

23  a group of women dedicated to serving their community, NOW,

24  THEREFORE,

26  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

27  Florida:

28

29         That the Duval County Chapter of The Charmettes, Inc.,

30  be commended for its outstanding contributions as it hosts the

31  42nd annual convention of The Charmettes, Inc.

  1         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  2  be presented to the members of the Duval County Chapter of The
