  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing a visiting Russian

  3         delegation engaged in the reform of the health

  4         care system in St. Petersburg, Russia.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, during the week of March 16, 1998, the State

  7  of Florida will host a distinguished group of visitors from

  8  St. Petersburg, Russia, and

  9         WHEREAS, St. Petersburg, Florida, is the Sister City to

10  St. Petersburg, Russia, and

11         WHEREAS, the delegation is in Florida to meet with The

12  DRB Group of St. Petersburg, Florida, which has a letter of

13  engagement to reform the health care system in St. Petersburg,

14  Russia, and

15         WHEREAS, while in the Tampa Bay area, the Russian

16  delegation will meet with health officials at the University

17  of South Florida and with the administration of Tampa General

18  Hospital, and

19         WHEREAS, the Russian delegation's trip to Florida

20  serves a number of purposes; among them, the opportunity to

21  observe modern health care facilities in the State of Florida

22  and consult with experts so that they can compare the health

23  care systems currently in place in St. Petersburg, Russia,

24  with those currently available in Florida and the United

25  States, and

26         WHEREAS, the visit also affords the opportunity to

27  increase international trade between their city and nation and

28  Florida and the United States, strengthen the sister cities

29  program between St. Petersburg, Russia, and St. Petersburg,

30  Florida, increase goodwill between Russians and Americans, and

  1  offer an opportunity to observe the manner in which Florida's

  2  public institutions function and serve their citizens, and

  3         WHEREAS, in the ongoing, evolving efforts to develop

  4  trust between government and business leaders in Russia and

  5  the United States, such a visit is of enormous value, and

  6         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

  7  of Representatives recognize and welcome the visiting

  8  delegation from St. Petersburg, Russia, NOW, THEREFORE,

  9

10  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

11  Florida:

13         That the House of Representatives of the State of

14  Florida hereby recognizes and welcomes the distinguished

15  delegation from St. Petersburg, Russia, engaged in the reform

16  of the health care system in St. Petersburg, Russia.

17         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

18  be presented to the visiting delegation from St. Petersburg,

19  Russia, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed

20  herein.
