1 House Resolution
2 A resolution designating March 31, 1998, as
3 Florida 4-H Day.

5 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H program includes roughly
6 331,000 children and 20,700 adult volunteers, and
7 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H program brings together
8 resources of local, state, and federal governments with
9 committed citizens and the private sector, and
10 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H program participants, who
11 dedicate themselves to "learn by doing," are involved in a
12 diverse array of projects, from animal science to xeriscaping,
13 and
14 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H members and volunteers are
15 dedicated to community service, devoting tens of thousands of
16 hours to their schools, communities, and the State of Florida,
17 and
18 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H members are actively engaged
19 in citizenship and leadership activities which enable them to
20 be productive members of society and to contribute to the
21 greater good of all mankind, and
22 WHEREAS, the Florida 4-H program performs an invaluable
23 service in the part it plays in preparing today's youth for
24 the future, while encouraging them to be leaders, not only of
25 tomorrow, but also of today, NOW, THEREFORE,

27 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28 Florida:

30 That the House of Representatives pauses in its
31 deliberations to express its appreciation of the efforts of

1 the Florida 4-H program and to proclaim March 31, 1998, as
2 Florida 4-H Day.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
4 be presented to the Florida 4-H Foundation as a tangible token
5 of the sentiments expressed herein.
