1 House Resolution
2 A resolution congratulating the Port St. Joe
3 High School boys' basketball team for winning
4 the 1998 Class 2A state championship.

6 WHEREAS, on March 7, 1998, in the Lakeland Civic
7 Center, the Port St. Joe High School Tiger Sharks defeated
8 Fort Lauderdale's Westminster High School 61-43, to claim
9 their third consecutive state basketball title, and
10 WHEREAS, finishing their championship season with a
11 24-9 record, the Sharks won their fourth state title in five
12 years, and
13 WHEREAS, Tyson Pittman was designated Most Valuable
14 Player of the Tournament and was named to the Class 2A
15 All-State second team; James Daniels was named to the
16 All-Tournament team and to the Class 2A All-State first team;
17 and Rod Chambers made Honorable Mention on the Class 2A
18 All-State team, and
19 WHEREAS, Head Coach Vernon Eppinette has completed his
20 22nd year of coaching, with an overall record of 474-200, and
21 WHEREAS, team members Rod Chambers, Keion McNair, James
22 Daniels, Jeremy Dixon, Tyson Pittman, Seneca Chambers, Mosi
23 Quinn, Kyle Adkison, Kedrick Larry, Darius Chambers, Travis
24 Jenkins, Lance Larry, Clay Smallwood, Tremaine Lewis, and
25 Kyron Bailey; Head Coach Vernon Eppinette; and Assistant
26 Coaches Kenny Parker and Steve Maxwell are to be commended for
27 their accomplishments, NOW, THEREFORE,

29 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

1 That the House of Representatives pauses in its
2 deliberations to commend the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks for
3 their outstanding accomplishments and to congratulate them for
4 winning three consecutive state titles.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
6 be presented to the members and staff of the Port St. Joe High
7 School basketball team as a tangible token of the sentiments
8 expressed herein.
