2 A resolution commending Florida A&M
3 University's Honda Campus All-Star Challenge
4 Team (Brain Brawl).

6 WHEREAS, Florida A&M University's Honda Campus All-Star
7 Challenge Team (Brain Brawl) battled its way to a third
8 national championship on Sunday, March 15, at the Walt Disney
9 Hilton in Orlando, Florida, winning a $50,000 scholarship and
10 an Ed Dwight bronze and marble trophy, and
11 WHEREAS, sixty-three other Historically Black Colleges
12 and Universities (HBCU's) competed, including Howard
13 University, Morehouse College, and Hampton University, and
14 WHEREAS, the team, composed of Shofaetiyah Watson, a
15 graduate political science major from Newport News, Virginia;
16 Natalie T.J. Tindall, a junior Life Gets Better Scholar and
17 print management major from St. Petersburg, Florida; Julian
18 Bryant, a sophomore psychology major from Tallahassee,
19 Florida; Dwight Bullard, a junior history education major from
20 Miami, Florida; and John M. Williams, a freshman Presidential
21 Scholar and business administration major from Houston, Texas,
22 coached by Vivian L. Hobbs, Ph.D., Associate Director, Student
23 Activities, who has coached the team to three national
24 championships, in 1991, 1996, and 1998, scored an
25 unprecedented 2,690 points, the highest in the history of the
26 Honda games, during seven matches, to advance to the Sweet 16
27 as top seed, and
28 WHEREAS, Florida A&M defeated Hampton University,
29 Fayetteville State University, and Oakwood College, only to be
30 matched against a former two-time championship team, Tuskegee

3 WHEREAS, previous Florida A&M championships were over
4 South Carolina State University in 1996 and West Virginia
5 State University in 1991, with each win having a different set
6 of scholars, NOW, THEREFORE,

8 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
9 Florida:

11 That the Florida A&M University's Honda Campus All-Star
12 Challenge Team, composed of Shofaetiyah Watson, Natalie T.J.
13 Tindall, Julian Bryant, Dwight Bullard, and John M. Williams,
14 coached by Vivian L. Hobbs, is commended and applauded for its
15 outstanding contribution to academic excellence through
16 winning the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge.
