1 House Resolution
2 A resolution honoring Howard Lichtman for his
3 accomplishments and contributions.

5 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman started Midtown Towing in 1987
6 with one truck and himself as the driver, and
7 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman, by combining hard work with
8 the belief that a person can become anything he wants to be,
9 built Midtown Towing, within 10 years, into one of the largest
10 towing companies in South Florida, with 21 employees and a
11 fleet of 15 trucks, and
12 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman and his wife, Lauraine, shared
13 their good fortune and contributed to many charities in South
14 Florida, including the Miami Rescue Mission, Children's Home
15 Society of Florida, Metro Dade M.A.D.D. Program, Biscayne Park
16 Recreation Department, Community Partnership for Homeless
17 Children, South Florida Food Recovery, Mailman Center for
18 Child Development, numerous other social service programs, all
19 police charities, and the Little League, and
20 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman believed that charity begins
21 at home and opened his home to homeless and drug-addicted
22 people who he felt he could help, and
23 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman served his country honorably
24 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, ultimately
25 giving his life to injuries suffered from exposure to Agent
26 Orange, and
27 WHEREAS, Howard Lichtman died in 1997 at the age of 48,
28 NOW, THEREFORE,

30 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
31 Florida:

1 That the Florida House of Representatives honors Howard
2 Lichtman for the many accomplishments that he achieved in his
3 short life and for all that he gave back to those less
4 fortunate than he.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
6 be presented to his widow, Lauraine, and his mother, Lillian,
7 as a tangible token of the esteem of the Florida House of
8 Representatives.
