  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending Harris Rosen for his

  3         work in encouraging youngsters to do well in

  4         school and to have a brighter future.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Harris Rosen is an Orlando hotelier with a

  7  vision for the school children of Orange County, and

  8         WHEREAS, Mr. Rosen has contributed very generously of

  9  his own funds for a plan to guarantee a preschool and college

10  education for every child in the South Orange County

11  neighborhood of Tangelo Park, and

12         WHEREAS, in his career in the hotel business Mr. Rosen

13  consistently displayed a deep willingness to work long hours

14  to fulfill his vision of success in the business, often

15  holding as many as five positions at the same time; general

16  manager, sales manager, food and beverage manager, security

17  guard, and gardener, and

18         WHEREAS, in addition to his dedication to his chosen

19  profession, Mr. Rosen made his family his top priority, and

20         WHEREAS, in applying the same skills which have led to

21  success in his business and family life, Mr. Rosen has created

22  a program for Tangelo Park scholarship funds which will

23  positively impact every child in the area and which will

24  provide these children with a chance at a better life, and

25         WHEREAS, Mr. Rosen sets a standard for the leaders of

26  Florida's business community to emulate in order to provide

27  many more examples of philanthropic partnership with our

28  schools and communities, and

29         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

30  of Representatives commend Harris Rosen for his many

31  accomplishments, NOW, THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  2  Florida:

  4         That the House of Representatives hereby commends

  5  Harris Rosen for his significant and generous efforts in

  6  encouraging youngsters to do well in school and to pursue a

  7  brighter future and calls upon other business leaders in

  8  Florida to provide similar opportunities that encourage

  9  at-risk youngsters to complete high school and attend college

10  or vocational schools.

11         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

12  be presented to Harris Rosen as a tangible token of the

13  sentiments expressed herein.
