1 House Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing the 50th anniversary
3 of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.

5 WHEREAS, in Florida, family physicians have a long
6 history of dedication to the health and well-being of the
7 citizens of the state, and
8 WHEREAS, the scope of the family physician's practice
9 is not limited by the patient's age or sex or by a particular
10 organ system or disease entity, and
11 WHEREAS, the goal of the family physician is to provide
12 high-quality, comprehensive, and continuing medical care at
13 reasonable costs, and
14 WHEREAS, family physicians are filling an increasingly
15 important role in the health-care system, providing and
16 coordinating the care of all patients, and
17 WHEREAS, there is a continuing commitment from the
18 specialty of family practice to upgrade the quality of medical
19 care available for all of Florida's citizens, and
20 WHEREAS, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians was
21 chartered on May 24, 1948, as a constituent chapter of the
22 American Academy of Family Physicians, to advance and
23 represent the specialty of family practice, and
24 WHEREAS, the 3,400 members of the Florida Academy of
25 Family Physicians, affiliated with the 85,000-member American
26 Academy, are commemorating their "50 years of caring" on May
27 24, 1998, NOW, THEREFORE,

29 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
30 Florida:

2 congratulate the Florida Academy of Family Physicians on its
