  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring Archibald "Arch" Wilton

  3         McLean, Jr.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Arch McLean, born in North Carolina on

  6  December 16, 1953, of Scottish descent, followed his father in

  7  joining the St. Andrews Society, an organization in which his

  8  father had served as president for the North Carolina chapter,

  9  and

10         WHEREAS, Arch McLean moved to Florida, where he

11  established himself in the construction industry as project

12  manager for Fairfield Properties for Point Alexis, was made

13  Executive Vice President of the Central Florida Chapter of

14  Associated General Contractors, was promoted to the position

15  of Executive Director of the Florida Associated General

16  Contractors Council, and is remembered as a staunch advocate

17  and defender of Florida's general contractors, and

18         WHEREAS, ever a gentleman, who conducted himself in a

19  professional manner, a loving, devoted son, brother, and

20  uncle, Arch McLean relocated to Tallahassee, where he became

21  known as a considerate neighbor and faithful friend, and

22         WHEREAS, Arch McLean, always demonstrating a love of

23  life and eager for a challenge, competed in triathlons and

24  participated in many demanding sports, such as scuba diving

25  and snow skiing, and

26         WHEREAS, Arch McLean's passion for new challenges

27  ultimately led to his untimely demise when he lost his life in

28  a tragic skydiving attempt over the Thanksgiving Holidays in

29  1997, and

30         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that Arch McLean

31  be remembered for his adventurous spirit and zest for life, as

  1  well as for his contributions to Florida's construction

  2  industry, NOW, THEREFORE,

  4  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  5  Florida:

  6

  7         That the House of Representatives pauses in its

  8  deliberations to remember and pay tribute to Archibald "Arch"

  9  Wilton McLean, Jr., for his many contributions to Florida's

10  construction industry and Tallahassee's professional lobbying

11  corps.
