1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to motor vehicle licenses;
3 amending s. 320.089, F.S.; permitting the
4 unremarried spouse of a deceased recipient of
5 the Purple Heart medal to continue receiving a
6 license plate which is stamped with the words
7 "Purple Heart" under certain circumstances;
8 providing an effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Subsection (3) is added to section 320.089,
13 Florida Statutes, to read:
14 320.089 Members of National Guard and active United
15 States Armed Forces reservists; former prisoners of war;
16 survivors of Pearl Harbor; Purple Heart medal recipients;
17 special license plates; fee.--
18 (3) Each owner or lessee of an automobile for private
19 use, truck weighing not more than 5,000 pounds, or
20 recreational vehicle as specified in s. 320.08(9)(c) or (d),
21 which is not used for hire or commercial use, who is a
22 resident of this state and who is the unremarried spouse of a
23 recipient of the Purple Heart medal shall, upon application
24 therefor to the department, with the payment of the required
25 fees, be issued a license plate as provided in s. 320.06, on
26 which license plate are stamped the words "Purple Heart" and
27 the likeness of the Purple Heart medal followed by the serial
28 number. Each application shall be accompanied by proof that
29 the applicant is the unremarried spouse of a recipient of the
30 Purple Heart medal.

1 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
2 law.
