  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution paying tribute to the late Theresa

  3         Gail May for her contributions to education in

  4         Santa Rosa County.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Theresa Gail May received a bachelor's degree

  7  in social studies from the University of West Florida in 1971,

  8  and

  9         WHEREAS, Theresa Gail May was employed by the Santa

10  Rosa School District from 1971 until her death in 1986, during

11  which time she earned a master's and a doctoral degree, and

12         WHEREAS, Theresa Gail May was a well-respected and

13  enthusiastic social studies teacher who was dedicated to

14  instilling in her students her love for politics and her

15  fascination with the government process, and

16         WHEREAS, as a teacher who went beyond the textbook and

17  classroom to educate her students, Theresa Gail May looked

18  past her impending death to devise a plan which would benefit

19  the young people of Santa Rosa County for years to come, and

20         WHEREAS, as the result of a decision made by the

21  parents of Theresa Gail May to make her plan a reality,

22  following their deaths, the Theresa Gail May Scholarship

23  Foundation was established in her memory to enhance social

24  studies education for students of the Santa Rosa School

25  District and to provide scholarships for Santa Rosa's high

26  school students and teachers, NOW, THEREFORE,

28  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
