16         On page 1, lines 17-21

17  remove from the amendment:  all of said lines

19  and insert in lieu thereof:  (4)  This section does not apply

20  to law enforcement officers or to United States Military

21  personnel who are performing their lawful duties or who are

22  traveling to or from their places of employment or assignment

23  to perform their lawful duties.

24         (5)  The Department of Corrections may spend up to

25  $500,000 from resources available from the department's

26  appropriation for the 1998-1999 fiscal year to provide public

27  service announcements to advertise the minimum mandatory

28  penalties provided in this section. Notwithstanding any

29  provision to the contrary, this subsection shall take effect

30  upon becoming law.
