  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to ad valorem taxation;

  3         providing an exclusion for any increase in

  4         value attributable to the installation of

  5         hurricane shutters; providing a contingent

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Disaster preparedness exemption.--There is

11  exempt from the assessed value for ad valorem tax purposes any

12  increase in value which is attributable to the installation of

13  shutters designed to protect the property against damage from

14  hurricanes.

15         Section 2.  This act shall take effect on the effective

16  date of Senate Joint Resolution No.      , creating an

17  amendment to the State Constitution allowing an ad valorem tax

18  exemption for value attributable to improvements made for

19  purposes of disaster preparedness.
