  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to ad valorem tax

  3         administration; amending s. 193.052, F.S.;

  4         authorizing filing of tangible personal

  5         property tax returns in a form initiated

  6         through electronic data interchange; providing

  7         duties of the Department of Revenue; providing

  8         an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (7) is added to section 193.052,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         193.052  Preparation and serving of returns.--

15         (7)  A property appraiser may accept a tangible

16  personal property tax return in a form initiated through an

17  electronic data interchange using an advanced encrypted

18  transmission by means of the Internet or other suitable

19  transmission. The department shall prescribe by rule the

20  format and instructions necessary for such filing to ensure a

21  full collection of taxes due. The acceptable method of

22  transfer, the method, form, and content of the electronic data

23  interchange, the means, if any, by which the taxpayer will be

24  provided with an acknowledgment, and the duties of the

25  property appraiser with respect to such filing shall be

26  prescribed by the department.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
