  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to husband and wife; providing

  3         that a husband and wife are liable for certain

  4         debts and necessaries; providing an effective

  5         date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Doctrine of necessaries.--The husband and

10  wife are liable for any debts incurred by either, during the

11  marriage and before either the date a separation agreement is

12  entered into or the date of the filing of a petition for

13  dissolution of marriage, whichever is earlier, unless

14  otherwise specified by an order of the court, for the

15  utilities for the home they share and for necessary medical

16  care for themselves and their dependent children.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 1999.

20                       LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY

      Provides that the husband and wife are liable for any
