  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to catering services; amending

  3         s. 509.241, F.S.; requiring catering services

  4         to keep a portion of deposits in an escrow

  5         account until 2 weeks before the event for

  6         which they were received; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 509.241, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         509.241  Licenses required; exceptions.--

14         (3)  DISPLAY OF LICENSE.--Any license issued by the

15  division shall be conspicuously displayed in the office or

16  lobby of the licensed establishment.

17         (4)  CATERING SERVICES; LICENSE DISPLAY; ADVANCE

18  DEPOSITS.--

19         (a)  Public food service establishments which offer

20  catering services shall display their license number on all

21  advertising for catering services.

22         (b)  Public food service establishments or any other

23  persons who offer catering services must keep 50 percent of

24  all customer deposits in a separate escrow account until 2

25  weeks before the events for which the deposits were received.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1999.
