  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to regional planning; amending

  3         s. 186.507, F.S.; enumerating energy planning

  4         as a specific component that may be addressed

  5         in a strategic regional policy plan; providing

  6         an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 186.507, Florida

11  Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:

12         186.507  Strategic regional policy plans.--

13         (1)  A strategic regional policy plan shall contain

14  regional goals and policies that shall address affordable

15  housing, economic development, emergency preparedness, natural

16  resources of regional significance, and regional

17  transportation, and that may address energy planning and any

18  other subject that which relates to the particular needs and

19  circumstances of the comprehensive planning district as

20  determined by the regional planning council.  Regional plans

21  shall identify and address significant regional resources and

22  facilities. Regional plans shall be consistent with the state

23  comprehensive plan.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
