13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 40, between lines 13 and 14,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 28.  Section 320.083, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         320.083  Amateur radio operators; citizens' band radio

20  operators; special license plates; fees.--

21         (1)  A person who is the owner or lessee of an

22  automobile for private use, a truck weighing not more than

23  5,000 pounds, or a recreational vehicle as specified in s.

24  320.08(9)(c) or (d), which is not used for hire or commercial

25  use; who is a resident of the state; and who holds a valid

26  official amateur radio station license or citizens' band radio

27  station license issued by the Federal Communications

28  Commission shall be issued a special license plate upon

29  application, accompanied by proof of ownership of such radio

30  station license, and payment of the following tax and fees:

31         (a)  The license tax required for the vehicle, as

 1  prescribed by s. 320.08(2), (3)(a), (b), or (c), or (9); and

 2         (b)  An initial additional fee of $5, and an additional

 3  fee of $1.50 thereafter.

 4         (2)  The license plate issued shall meet the

 5  requirements of s. 320.06, except that, in lieu of the numbers

 6  as prescribed by s. 320.06, it shall be inscribed with the

 7  official amateur radio call letters or the official citizens'

 8  band radio call letters, as appropriate, of the applicant, as

 9  assigned by the Federal Communications Commission, including

10  as a prefix, when applicable, those call letters assigned by

11  the Armed Services of the United States of America, not to

12  exceed eight characters.  In lieu of the name of the county or

13  the designation "Sunshine State" on the bottom of the plate as

14  prescribed in s. 320.06, the words "Amateur Radio" shall be

15  inscribed.

16         (3)  All applications for such plates shall be made to

17  the department.

26         specifications for a specialty license plate
