11  Senator Casas moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         Delete everything after the enacting clause

15

16  and insert:

17         Section 1.  (1)  The Abandoned Property Trust Fund,

18  FLAIR number 44-2-007, which was created within the Department

19  of Banking and Finance and which is to be terminated pursuant

20  to Section 19(f), Article III of the State Constitution on

21  November 4, 2000, is re-created and renamed the "Unclaimed

22  Property Trust Fund."

23         (2)  All current balances of the trust fund are carried

24  forward, and all current sources and uses of the trust fund

25  are continued.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect November 4,

27  2000.

 4                      A bill to be entitled

 5         An act relating to the re-creation of the

 6         Abandoned Property Trust Fund; re-creating and

 7         renaming the Abandoned Property Trust Fund;

 8         carrying forward current balances and

 9         continuing current sources and uses thereof;

10         providing an effective date.

12         WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to extend the life of

13  the Abandoned Property Trust Fund, which is otherwise

14  scheduled to be terminated pursuant to constitutional mandate,

15  and

16         WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the trust fund

17  before its scheduled termination date and has found that it

18  continues to meet an important public purpose, and

19         WHEREAS, the Legislature has found that existing public

20  policy concerning the trust fund sets adequate parameters for

21  its use, NOW, THEREFORE,
