15         On page 6, line 16, after the word "department"

17  insert:  provided, however, a student who has a 3.5 grade

18  point average and who earns a score of 970 or above on the

19  recentered Scholastic Assessment Test or its equivalent on the

20  ACT Assessment Program or another test identified by the

21  department may not be denied a Florida Merit Scholars award

22  for failure to earn a score in excess of 970 on the recentered

23  Scholastic Assessment Test or its equivalent on the ACT

24  Assessment Program or another test identified by the

25  department
