11  The Committee on Fiscal Policy recommended the following

12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 5, between lines 11 and 12,

16

17  insert:

18         (9)  A child who has not attained the age of 1, living

19  in a family that has an income which is above 185 percent of

20  the most recently published federal poverty level, but which

21  is at or below 200 percent of such poverty level. In

22  determining eligibility of such a child, an assets test is not

23  required.

24         (10)  The ongoing eligibility of families and children

25  who are eligible for Medicaid shall periodically be

26  redetermined as follows:

27         (a)  For families and children who are also receiving

28  temporary cash assistance under the WAGES program or food

29  stamp benefits shall have their eligibility for Medicaid

30  redetermined in conjunction with the redetermination of

31  temporary cash assistance or food stamp eligibility.

 1         (b)  For families and children who are eligible for

 2  Medicaid and who do not receive temporary cash assistance of

 3  food stamps, redetermination of eligibility must be

 4  accomplished at least every 12 months, with respect to

 5  circumstances that may change. The Department of Children and

 6  Family Services shall develop procedures for redetermining

 7  eligibility that minimize administrative barriers to

 8  participation in Medicaid. The procedures may include

 9  providing families with simplified methods to update changes

10  in family circumstances without imposing requirements beyond

11  the requirements of federal law.

12         (c)  For children, eligibility shall not be for a

13  period of time shorter than the periods specified in s.

14  409.904.
