2 An act relating to the City of Weston, Broward
3 County, Florida; extending and enlarging the
4 corporate limits of the City of Weston to
5 include specified unincorporated lands within
6 said corporate limits; redefining city limits;
7 providing an effective date

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10
11 Section 1. The present corporate limits of the City of
12 Weston, Broward County, Florida, are hereby extended and
13 enlarged so as to include, in addition to the territory
14 presently within its corporate limits, portions of Sections 33
15 and 34, Township 49 South, Range 39 East together with
16 portions of Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 15, 22 and 27, Township 50
17 South, Range 39 East, Broward County, Florida, being more
18 particularly described as follows:

20 BEGINNING at the intersection of the East
21 right-of-way line of State Road 25 (U.S. 27) as
22 shown on Florida Department of Transportation
23 Right-of-Way Map for Section 86060-2515, with
24 the North right-of-way line of Canal C-11, as
25 shown on South Florida Water Management
26 District Right-of-Way Maps for Canal C-11,
27 Drawing Number C-11-3, Sheet 1 of 3, said point
28 also being the Southwest corner of the
29 municipal limits of the City of Weston as
30 established by State of Florida Legislature
31 Bill Number 3130;

2 THENCE Westerly, on said North right-of-way
3 line of Canal C-11 to the intersection with the
4 West line of said Section 27, Township 50

2 the last described point of intersection,
3 traversing the right-of-way of said State Road
4 93 (Interstate 75), to a point of compound
5 curvature of a 1600.95 foot radius curve with a
6 11297.16 foot radius curve, said point being
7 located on the South right-of-way line of State
8 Road 93 (Interstate 75) as shown on Florida
9 Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Map
10 for Section 86075-2409, Sheet 5 of 17, said
11 point also being located on the North municipal
12 limits of the City of Weston as established by
13 State of Florida Legislature Bill Number 3130;

15 THENCE Southwesterly and Southerly on said
16 Southerly right-of-way line of State Road 93
17 (Interstate 75) and on said Easterly
18 right-of-way line of State Road 25 (U.S. 27) as
19 shown on Florida Department of Transportation
20 Right-of-Way Map for Section 86060-2515 and on
21 the Northerly and Westerly municipal limits of
22 the City of Weston as established by State of
23 Florida Legislature Bill Number 3130 to the
24 intersection with the North line of Tract 38 in
25 Section 3, Township 50 South, Range 39 East as
26 shown on FLORIDA FRUIT LANDS COMPANY'S
27 SUBDIVISION NO. 1, according to the plat
28 thereof as recorded in Plat Book 2, Page 17 of
29 the Public Records of Dade County, Florida,
30 said point also being the Northwest corner of a

1 parcel of land annexed into the City of Weston
2 by Ordinance Number 98-15;

4 THENCE continue Southerly on said Easterly
5 right-of-way line of State Road 25 (U.S. 27)
6 and on the Westerly municipal limits of the
7 City of Weston as established by said City of
8 Weston Ordinance Number 98-15 to the
9 intersection with the South line of said Tract
10 38 and the Southwest corner of said parcel of
11 land annexed into the City of Weston by
12 Ordinance Number 98-15;

14 THENCE continue Southerly on said Easterly
15 right-of-way line of State Road 25 (U.S. 27) as
16 shown on Florida Department of Transportation
17 Right-of-Way Map for Section 86060-2515 and on
18 the Westerly municipal limits of the City of
19 Weston as established by State of Florida
20 Legislature Bill Number 3130 to the POINT OF
21 BEGINNING;

23 Said lands lying in Broward County, Florida.

25 Section 2. All public roads and the public
26 rights-of-way associated therewith, on the Broward County Road
27 System, lying within the limits of the lands subject to
28 annexation herein, as described in section 1, are transferred
29 from Broward County jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the
30 annexing municipality. All rights, title, interests, and
31 responsibilities for any transferred roads, including, but not

1 limited to, the ownership, operation, maintenance, planning,
2 design, and construction of said roads and to the
3 rights-of-way associated therewith shall transfer from Broward
4 County jurisdiction and ownership to the jurisdiction and
5 ownership of the annexing municipality upon the effective date
6 of this act.
7 Section 3. On the effective date of this act the City
8 of Weston shall be responsible for and embodied with all
9 municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,
10 over territory hereby annexed.
11 Section 4. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed
12 to affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
13 whether the same be between Broward County and a third party
14 or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in
15 effect prior to the effective date of annexation.
16 Section 5. This act shall take effect September 15,
17 1999.
