  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Boca Raton Airport

  3         Authority; amending chapter 82-259, Laws of

  4         Florida, as amended; increasing the membership

  5         of the authority; requiring the board of county

  6         commissioners and the Boca Raton City Council

  7         to each appoint an additional member to the

  8         authority; revising the qualifications of

  9         members appointed to the authority by the Boca

10         Raton City Council; providing requirements for

11         the residence of such appointees; providing an

12         effective date.

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15

16         Section 1.  Subsections (1) and (2) of section 4 of

17  chapter 82-259, Laws of Florida, as amended by section 1 of

18  chapter 91-381, Laws of Florida, is amended to read:

19         Section 4.  Membership; terms of office; officers;

20  quorum; meetings; removal.--

21         (1)  The authority shall consist of seven five members.

22  As a condition of eligibility for appointment and to hold

23  office, four members must shall reside within the

24  municipality; two members must city and one member shall

25  reside within the Greater Boca Raton Reserve Area, as defined

26  in chapter 67-1112, Laws of Florida; and one member must

27  reside within the municipality and west of the airport.

28         (2)  All members of the authority shall be

29  representatives of the business and professional community,

30  homeowners, and users of the airport.  The county commission

31  shall appoint two members, each of whom must reside the member

  1  who resides within the Greater Boca Raton Reserve Area.; The

  2  city council shall appoint five members, four of whom must

  3  reside within the limits of the municipality and one of whom

  4  must reside within the limits of the municipality and west of

  5  the airport. one member from a list of nominees of the Boca

  6  Raton Pilots Association or its successor; one member from the

  7  city council's own nominees; one member from a list of

  8  nominees of the Boca Raton Federation of Homeowners

  9  Associations; and one member from a list of nominees of the

10  Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.  Each list of nominees, except

11  that of the county commission and of the city council, shall

12  consist of not less than three names of persons qualified to

13  hold office. Each nominating entity except the county

14  commission and the city council shall file its list of

15  nominees not later than May 1 of the year of expiration of the

16  term of office of the member nominated by the entity.  If a

17  list of nominees is not timely filed with the city council,

18  the city council shall proceed to fill the vacancy by

19  appointment from its own nominations. Members shall continue

20  in office until their reappointment or the appointment of

21  their successors.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.
