11  Senator Casas moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         Delete everything after the enacting clause

15

16  and insert:

17         Section 1.  Governmental agencies and courts; role in

18  driver instruction.--

19         (1)  Neither a governmental entity nor a court may

20  provide, issue, or maintain any information or orders

21  regarding driver improvement schools or course providers, with

22  the exception of directing inquiries or requests to entities

23  listed in the local telephone directory under the heading of

24  "driver instruction" or in the traffic school reference guide.

25         (2)  The Department of Highway Safety and Motor

26  Vehicles shall prepare, for any governmental entity to

27  distribute, a traffic school reference guide that lists the

28  benefits of attending a driver improvement school, but under

29  no circumstance may a list of course providers or schools be

30  included, and shall refer further inquiries about driver

31  improvement to the entities listed in the telephone directory

10                      A bill to be entitled

11         An act relating to driver instruction;

12         prohibiting governmental entities and courts

13         from providing, issuing, or maintaining certain

14         information and orders regarding driver

15         improvement schools or course providers;

16         requiring the Department of Highway Safety and

17         Motor Vehicles to prepare a traffic school

18         reference guide; providing for distribution and

19         prescribing contents of the guide; providing an

20         effective date.
