11  Senator Meek moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment 

14         On page 83, lines 14-18, delete those lines

15

16  and insert:

17         Section 21.    In order to inform the public and to

18  deter and prevent crime, the Office of the Governor shall

19  place public service announcements in areas having the highest

20  representation in the correctional system explaining the

21  penalties provided in this act.  In addition, the Office of

22  the Governor shall place public service announcements directed

23  to areas of the state which have the highest rate of felony

24  offenses to maximize the preventative aspects of advertising

25  the penalties imposed by this act.  Appropriations designated

26  in Chapter 99-12, Laws of Florida, for public service

27  announcements, shall also be used to fund the public service

28  announcements required in this section.
