11  Senator Meek moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 26, between lines 7 and 8,

15

16  insert:

17         (7)  In every case in which a state attorney seeks

18  prosecution of a defendant as a three-time violent felony

19  offender under paragraph (3)(b) of this section, the state

20  attorney shall collect and compile information relating to the

21  age, race, and sex of the defendant, the defendant's current

22  offense, and the defendant's prior criminal offense history. A

23  state attorney shall submit to the Legislature, on an annual

24  basis, the information which the state attorney is required to

25  collect and compile pursuant to this subsection.

26         (8)  In every case in which a defendant is sentenced to

27  a term of imprisonment as a three-time violent felony offender

28  pursuant to paragraph (4)(c) of this section, the Department

29  of Corrections shall collect and compile information on the

30  age, race, and sex of the defendant, the defendant's current

31  offense, the defendant's prior criminal offense history, and

 1  the sentence imposed upon the defendant as a three-time

 2  violent felony offender. The Department of Corrections shall

 3  submit to the Legislature, on an annual basis, the information

 4  which the department is required to collect and compile

 5  pursuant to this subsection.

10         On page 3, line 24, after the semicolon

12  insert:

13         requiring that state attorneys collect and

14         compile certain information on any defendant

15         prosecuted as a three-time violent felony

16         offender and report such information to the

17         Legislature on an annual basis; requiring that

18         the Department of Corrections collect and

19         compile certain information on any defendant

20         sentenced as a three-time violent felony

21         offender and report such information to the

22         Legislature on an annual basis.
