17 (8) LOW PERFORMING SCHOOLS INTERVENTION FUNDS.--
18 (a) The department is authorized to allocate and
19 distribute to each district with schools under probationary
20 status pursuant to s. 229.0535, Florida Statutes, an amount as
21 prescribed annually by the legislature for improvement funds
22 for those schools. The allocation shall be one-sixth of the
23 product determined by multiplying the base student allocation
24 times the weighted full-time equivalent student membership for
25 these schools times the district cost differential.
26 (b) The funds shall be used only for those schools
27 under probationary status and may be used for student
28 performance improvement purposes including, but not limited
29 to, student remediation activities, teacher training, class
30 size reduction or extended school year.
31 (c) Before intervention funds are released to any

1 district, that district must submit a school improvement plan
2 specific to the school or schools for which the funds will be
3 used and detailing how said funds will be utilized to
4 implement the plan.
