14 On page 111, between lines 25 and 26,

16 insert:
17 Section 51. Subsection (3) of section 230.303, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 230.303 Superintendent of schools.--
20 (3) Notwithstanding provisions of chapter 145 or this
21 chapter to the contrary, the annual salaries of elected
22 superintendents of schools for 1993 and each year thereafter
23 shall be established at the same amounts as those
24 superintendents were paid for fiscal year 1991-1992, adjusted
25 by each annual increase provided for in chapter 145. Any
26 salary previously paid to elected superintendents which was
27 consistent with chapter 145 and this section is hereby
28 ratified and validated. By June 30, 2002, at least 5 percent
29 of the salary of elected superintendents must be based on the
30 annual performance of students as measured by state
31 assessments pursuant to State Board of Education rules.
