1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the long-term-care community
3 diversion pilot projects; amending s. 430.703,
4 F.S.; defining the term "other qualified
5 provider"; amending s. 430.707, F.S.;
6 authorizing the Department of Elderly Affairs
7 to contract with other qualified providers to
8 provide long-term care within the pilot
9 projects; providing an effective date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Present subsection (7) of section 430.703,
14 Florida Statutes, is renumbered as subsection (8), and a new
15 subsection (7) is added to that section to read:
16 430.703 Definitions.--As used in this act, the term:
17 (7) "Other qualified provider" means an entity
18 licensed under chapter 400 that meets all the financial and
19 quality assurance requirements established by the agency and
20 the department and can demonstrate a long-term-care continuum.
21 Section 2. Subsection (1) of section 430.707, Florida
22 Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:
23 430.707 Contracts.--
24 (1) The department, in consultation with the agency,
25 shall select and contract with managed care organizations and
26 other qualified providers to provide long-term care within
27 community diversion pilot project areas.
28 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
29 law.
