11 certain date; providing effective dates.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Effective November 1, 1999, section 26.031,
16 Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
17 26.031 Judicial circuits; number of judges.--The
18 number of circuit judges in each circuit shall be as follows:

1 Section 5. Effective January 1, 2000, section 35.06,
2 Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
3 35.06 Organization of district courts of appeal.--A
4 district court of appeal shall be organized in each of the
5 five appellate districts to be named District Court of Appeal,
6 .... District. The number of judges of each district court of
7 appeal shall be as follows:
8 (1) In the first district there shall be 15 judges.
9 (2) In the second district there shall be 14 judges.
10 (3) In the third district there shall be 11 judges.
11 (4) In the fourth district there shall be 12 judges.
12 (5) In the fifth district there shall be 10 9 judges.

14 The successors of the original and additional judges of the
15 district courts of appeal shall be elected at the general
16 election next preceding the expiration of their respective
17 terms of office to serve for full terms of 6 years.
18 Section 6. Unless extended by the Governor in
19 accordance with section 11(c), Art. V of the State
20 Constitution, the judicial nominating commission shall make
21 its nominations no later than October 1, 1999, for vacancies
22 created by sections 1 and 3 of this act.
23 Section 7. Except as otherwise provided herein, this
24 act shall take effect September 1, 1999.

Increases the number of circuit court judges in the
4 First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh,
Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, Thirteenth,
5 Fifteenth, Seventeenth, Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and
Twentieth Judicial Circuits. Increases the number of
6 county court judges in Duval, Hillsborough, Leon, Polk,
and Putnam Counties. Increases the number of appellate
7 judges in the Fifth District Court of Appeal.
