13         Amendment to Senate Amendment (311700) 

14         On page 89, lines 14 through 30,

15  remove from the amendment:  all of said lines

17  and insert in lieu thereof:

18         Section 43.  It is the intent of the legislature to

19  review the current benefits provided under the Florida

20  Retirement System during the 2000 Legislative Session. To this

21  end, prior to February 1, 2000, the Senate Fiscal Policy

22  Committee, the Senate Governmental Oversight and Productivity

23  Committee, the House Governmental Operations Committee and the

24  House General Appropriations Committee will review the current

25  Florida Retirement System and make recommendations to the

26  presiding officers regarding the costs and benefits of

27  alternative retirement plan options on both the employers and

28  employees. Recommendations shall include a defined

29  contribution plan.

30         Section 44.  This act shall take effect upon becoming

31  law, except that the reenactment of subsection (6) of section

 1  121.051, paragraph (a) of subsection (7) of section 121.052,

 2  paragraph (a) of subsection (3) of section 121.055, subsection

 3  (1) of section 121.071, subsection (12) of section 121.40, and

 4  subsections (11) and (12) of section 413.051, Florida

 5  Statutes, shall operate retroactively to June 7, 1996, and

 6  except that the amendments to paragraph (c) of subsection (15)

 7  of section 121.021, and subsections (1) and (2) and paragraph

 8  (a) of subsection (7) of section 121.0515, Florida Statutes,

 9  shall take effect October 1, 1999.
