11  The Committee on Transportation recommended the following

12  amendment:

15         On page 2, line 10, after the period

16

17  insert:  Upon receipt of the notice, the insurer shall notify

18  the sender of the notice if it does not insure the vehicle or

19  if there is no coverage for the storage charge. If it has been

20  timely notified within 7 days as provided above, the insurer

21  providing coverage for storage charges must complete the

22  transaction subject to the terms of coverage. If they have

23  been notified timely, as provided above, the owner, the

24  lienholder or the insurer providing coverage for the storage

25  charge shall arrange for the vehicle to be removed from

26  storage in a timely fashion. The towing service, garage,

27  repair shop, or automotive service, storage, or parking place

28  must accept corporate checks from the insurer if the insurer

29  is listed in the department's records as being the insurance

30  company of record.
