11  Senator Jones moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 3, between lines 17 and 18,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 2.  Section 252.375, Florida Statutes, is

18  created to read:

19         252.375  Contract preference to local entities.--In

20  expending state and federal funds for debris clearance,

21  distribution of supplies, reconstruction, and other major

22  disaster or emergency assistance activities that are carried

23  out by contract or agreement with private organizations,

24  firms, or individuals, preference must be given, to the extent

25  feasible and practicable, to organizations, firms, and

26  individuals who reside or do business primarily in the area

27  affected by the major disaster or emergency. This section does

28  not restrict the use of resources from the Department of

29  Defense in providing assistance following a major disaster.

10         business in the area affected by the major

11         disaster or emergency;
