1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to emergency medical services;
3 creating s. 401.275, F.S.; providing that
4 emergency medical services licensees shall
5 require persons employed or applying for
6 employment as certified emergency medical
7 technicians or paramedics to undergo employment
8 screening as provided by law; authorizing
9 exemptions from disqualification from such
10 employment as provided by law; providing an
11 effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Section 401.275, Florida Statutes, is
16 created to read:
17 401.275 Employment screening of certified emergency
18 medical technicians and paramedics.--A licensee shall require
19 each person employed or applying for employment as a certified
20 emergency medical technician or paramedic to undergo personnel
21 screening and security background investigations as provided
22 in chapter 435, using the level 2 standards for screening set
23 forth in that chapter, as a condition of employment or
24 continued employment. A licensee may grant exemptions from
25 disqualification from employment as a certified emergency
26 medical technician or paramedic as provided in s. 435.07.
27 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 1999.
