18 Section 36. Section 468.304, Florida Statutes, 1998
19 Supplement, is amended to read:
20 468.304 Certification examination; admission.--The
21 department shall admit to examination for certification any
22 applicant who pays to the department a nonrefundable fee not
23 to exceed $100 plus the actual per-applicant cost to the
24 department for the purchase of the examination from a national
25 organization and submits satisfactory evidence, verified by
26 oath or affirmation, that she or he:
27 (1) Is at least 18 years of age at the time of
28 application;
29 (2) Is a high school graduate or has successfully
30 completed the requirements for a graduate equivalency diploma
31 (GED) or its equivalent;

1 (3) Is of good moral character; and
2 (4)(a) Has successfully completed an educational
3 program, which program may be established in a hospital
4 licensed pursuant to chapter 395 or in an accredited
5 postsecondary academic institution which is subject to
6 approval by the department as maintaining a satisfactory
7 standard; or
8 (b)1. With respect to an applicant for a basic X-ray
9 machine operator's certificate, has completed a course of
10 study approved by the department with appropriate study
11 material provided the applicant by the department;
12 2. With respect to an applicant for a basic X-ray
13 machine operator-podiatric medicine certificate, has completed
14 a course of study approved by the department, provided that
15 such course of study shall be limited to that information
16 necessary to perform radiographic procedures within the scope
17 of practice of a podiatric physician licensed pursuant to
18 chapter 461;
19 3. With respect only to an applicant for a general
20 radiographer's certificate who is a basic X-ray machine
21 operator certificateholder, has completed an educational
22 program or a 2-year training program that takes into account
23 the types of procedures and level of supervision usually and
24 customarily practiced in a hospital, which educational or
25 training program complies with the rules of the department; or
26 4. With respect only to an applicant for a nuclear
27 medicine technologist's certificate who is a general
28 radiographer certificateholder, has completed an educational
29 program or a 2-year training program that takes into account
30 the types of procedures and level of supervision usually and
31 customarily practiced in a hospital, which educational or

1 training program complies with the rules of the department.

3 No application for a limited computed tomography certificate
4 shall be accepted. All persons holding valid computed
5 tomography certificates as of October 1, 1984, are subject to
6 the provisions of s. 468.309.
7 Section 37. Subsection (4) of section 468.306, Florida
8 Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:
9 468.306 Examinations.--All applicants, except those
10 certified pursuant to s. 468.3065, shall be required to pass
11 an examination. The department is authorized to develop or
12 use examinations for each type of certificate.
13 (4) A nonrefundable fee not to exceed $75 plus the
14 actual per-applicant cost to the department for the purchase
15 of the examination from a national organization shall be
16 charged for any subsequent examination.
17 Section 38. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section
18 468.309, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
19 468.309 Certificate; duration; renewal; reversion to
20 inactive status.--
21 (1)(a) A radiologic technologist's certificate issued
22 in accordance with this part automatically expires as
23 specified in rules adopted by the department establishing a
24 procedure for biennial renewal of certificates on December 31
25 of the year following the year of issuance. A certificate
26 shall be renewed by the department for a period of 2 years
27 upon payment of a renewal fee in an amount not to exceed $75
28 and upon submission of a renewal application containing such
29 information as the department deems necessary to show that the
30 applicant for renewal is a radiologic technologist in good
31 standing and has completed any continuing education
