  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to nutrition practice; creating

  3         the Clinical Nutrition Study Committee;

  4         providing for appointment of members; providing

  5         duties; requiring a report; providing for

  6         termination of the study committee; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  There is hereby created a six-member

12  Clinical Nutrition Study Committee appointed by the Secretary

13  of Health. Members of the committee shall include a

14  representative from the Department of Health, a member of the

15  Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council, two persons licensed

16  as nutrition counselors, a member of the Florida Association

17  of Dietitians, and a consumer 60 years of age or older. The

18  study committee shall provide a report to the President of the

19  Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the

20  chairs of the appropriate substantive committees of the

21  Legislature no later than January 1, 2000, which shall include

22  a study of the educational, experience, and training

23  requirements for a person to be licensed as a clinical

24  nutritionist or as a nutrition counselor. The study committee

25  shall be terminated upon submission of the report.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
