14 On page 2, between lines 12 and 13, of the bill

17 Section 2. Paragraph (b) of subsection (5) of section
18 790.06, Florida Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:
19 790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--
20 (5) The applicant shall submit to the Department of
21 State:
22 (b) A nonrefundable license fee not to exceed $85, if
23 he or she has not previously been issued a statewide license,
24 or a nonrefundable license fee not to exceed $70 for renewal
25 of a statewide license. Costs for processing the set of
26 fingerprints as required in paragraph (c) shall be borne by
27 the applicant. However, an individual holding an active
28 certification from the Criminal Justice Standards and Training
29 Commission as a "law enforcement officer," "correctional
30 officer," or "correctional probation officer" as defined in s.
31 943.10(1), (2), (3), (6), (7), (8), or (9) is exempt from the

1 licensing requirements of this section. If any individual
2 holding an active certification from the Criminal Justice
3 Standards and Training Commission as a "law enforcement
4 officer," a "correctional officer," or a "correctional
5 probation officer" as defined in s. 943.10(1), (2), (3), (6),
6 (7), (8), or (9) wishes to receive a concealed weapons or
7 firearms license, such person is exempt from the background
8 investigation and all background investigation fees, but shall
9 pay the current license fees regularly required to be paid by
10 nonexempt applicants. Further, a law enforcement officer, a
11 correctional officer, or a correctional probation officer as
12 defined in s. 943.10(1), (2), or (3) is exempt from the
13 required fees and background investigation for a period of 1
14 year subsequent to the date of retirement of said officer as a
15 law enforcement officer, a correctional officer, or a
16 correctional probation officer. A law enforcement officer as
17 defined in s. 943.10(1) who has retired with honorable
18 distinction is exempt from the license fees regularly required
19 to be paid by nonexempt applicants and shall, after submission
20 to the Department of State of written documentation verifying
21 that such law enforcement officer has retired with honorable
22 distinction, pay a nonrefundable one-time license fee of $10
23 for a statewide license or renewal of a statewide license.
