1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to building codes; amending s.
3 553.841, F.S.; adding the Building Officials
4 Association of Florida, and the State Fire
5 Marshal to the group responsible for developing
6 the Building Code Training Program; repealing
7 s. 471.017(3), F.S.; deleting a continuing
8 education requirement; repealing s. 553.36(5),
9 F.S.; deleting the definition of "component" as
10 used in chapter 553, F.S.; providing an
11 effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 553.841, Florida
16 Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:
17 553.841 Building code training program; participant
18 competency requirements.--
19 (3) The program shall be developed, implemented, and
20 administered by the commission in consultation with the
21 Department of Education, the Department of Community Affairs,
22 the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the
23 State University System, the Building Officials Association of
24 Florida, the State Fire Marshal, and the Division of Community
25 Colleges.
26 Section 2. Subsection (3) of section 471.017, Florida
27 Statutes, 1998 Supplement, and subsection (5) of section
28 553.36, Florida Statutes, are repealed.
29 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 1999.
