  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing the week of June 21

  3         through June 27, 1999, as Workers' Right to

  4         Organize Week.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, federal law protects employees' rights to form

  7  or join unions, and

  8         WHEREAS, unions provide employees with a voice on the

  9  job, and

10         WHEREAS, unions encourage job innovation and have

11  resulted in better benefits and greater job security for

12  workers, and

13         WHEREAS, unionized employees generally earn more than

14  their nonunion counterparts and contribute to the economic

15  vitality of our communities, and

16         WHEREAS, unions have contributed to the growth of

17  democracy, the well-being of America's working families, and

18  our communities generally, NOW, THEREFORE,

19

20  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

21

22         That the week of June 21 through June 27, 1999, is

23  recognized as Workers' Right to Organize Week.
