11  Senator Hargrett moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 4, between lines 10 and 11,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 3.  Section 189.429, Florida Statutes, 1998

18  Supplement, is amended to read:

19         189.429  Codification.--Each district that is located

20  in a county having a population of less than 800,000 according

21  to the most recent decennial census, by December 1, 2004,

22  shall, and all other districts may, submit to the Legislature

23  a draft codified charter, at its expense, so that its special

24  acts may be codified into a single act for reenactment by the

25  Legislature, if there is more than one special act for the

26  district. The Legislature may adopt a schedule for individual

27  district codification. Any codified act relating to a

28  district, which act is submitted to the Legislature for

29  reenactment, shall provide for the repeal of all prior special

30  acts of the Legislature relating to the district.  The

31  codified act shall be filed with the department pursuant to s.

 2         Section 4.  Section 191.015, Florida Statutes, 1998

 3  Supplement, is amended to read:

 4         191.015  Codification.--Each fire control district

 5  existing on the effective date of this section which is

 6  located in a county having a population of less than 800,000

 7  according to the most recent decennial census, by December 1,

 8  2004, shall, and all other fire control districts may, submit

 9  to the Legislature a draft codified charter, at its expense,

10  so that its special acts may be codified into a single act for

11  reenactment by the Legislature, if there is more than one

12  special act for the district. The Legislature may adopt a

13  schedule for individual district codification. Any codified

14  act relating to a district, which act is submitted to the

15  Legislature for reenactment, shall provide for the repeal of

16  all prior special acts of the Legislature relating to the

17  district. The codified act shall be filed with the Department

18  of Community Affairs pursuant to s. 189.418(2).
