1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the State Athletic
3 Commission; transferring the commission to the
4 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
5 Development in the Executive Office of the
6 Governor; amending s. 14.2015, F.S.; requiring
7 the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
8 Development to monitor the activities of the
9 commission; amending s. 548.003, F.S.;
10 conforming provisions; providing an effective
11 date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Paragraph (k) is added to subsection (2) of
16 section 14.2015, Florida Statutes, 1998 Supplement, to read:
17 14.2015 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
18 Development; creation; powers and duties.--
19 (2) The purpose of the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
20 Economic Development is to assist the Governor in working with
21 the Legislature, state agencies, business leaders, and
22 economic development professionals to formulate and implement
23 coherent and consistent policies and strategies designed to
24 provide economic opportunities for all Floridians. To
25 accomplish such purposes, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
26 Economic Development shall:
27 (k) Monitor the activities of the State Athletic
28 Commission to avoid duplication and achieve consistency in the
29 promotion of sports.
30 Section 2. Subsection (1) of section 548.003, Florida
31 Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:

1 548.003 State Athletic Commission.--
2 (1) The State Athletic Commission is created under the
3 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development within the
4 Executive Office of the Governor Department of Business and
5 Professional Regulation. The State Athletic Commission shall
6 consist of five members appointed by the Governor, subject to
7 confirmation by the Senate. Upon the expiration of the term of
8 a commissioner, the Governor shall appoint a successor to
9 serve for a 4-year term.
10 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 1999.

13 SENATE SUMMARY
14 Transfers the State Athletic Commission from the
Department of Business and Professional Regulation to the
15 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development within
the Executive Office of the Governor.
