  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to pupil and student records

  3         and reports; amending s. 228.093, F.S.;

  4         providing that this section does not prohibit

  5         the disclosure of certain disciplinary records

  6         containing information that personally

  7         identifies a student who has committed a crime

  8         of violence; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (7) is added to section 228.093,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         228.093  Pupil and student records and reports; rights

15  of parents, guardians, pupils, and students; notification;

16  penalty.--

17         (7)  This section does not prohibit any postsecondary

18  educational agency or institution from disclosing disciplinary

19  records containing information that personally identifies a

20  student or students who have either admitted to or been found

21  to have committed any act that is a crime of violence which is

22  in violation of institutional policy and consists either of a

23  violation of the law or of a specific institutional policy, if

24  the records are directly related to such misconduct.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.
