11 Senator Sullivan moved the following amendment:

13 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 24, lines 4-11, delete those lines
15
16 and insert: functions and may reassign positions in pay grade
17 25 and above to the Select Exempt Service category within the
18 Department of Education in order to promote effective and
19 efficient operation of the department. Authorized positions
20 and appropriations may be transferred from one budget entity
21 to another as required to implement the reorganization. The
22 provisions of this section are subject to the requirements of
23 section 216.181, Florida Statutes. The commissioner may not
24 establish, abolish, or consolidate bureaus, sections, or
25 subsections after January 31, 2000, unless such action is
26 approved by the Department of Management Services or by law.
