13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 41, between lines 2 and 3,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 17.  Section 196.1994, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         196.1994  Space laboratories and carriers exemption.--

20         (1)  Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter,

21  modules, pallets, racks, lockers, and their necessary

22  associated hardware and subsystems owned by any person and

23  intended for use as space laboratories launched into space

24  aboard the space shuttle for the primary purpose of conducting

25  scientific research in space or as cargo carriers launched

26  into space aboard the space shuttle for the primary purpose of

27  transporting or storing cargo are deemed to carry out a

28  scientific purpose and are exempt from ad valorem taxation.

29         (2)  This section is repealed July 1, 2004.

30         Section 18.  It is the intent of the Legislature that

31  the amendment to section 196.1994, Florida Statutes, by this
