11  The Committee on Comprehensive Planning, Local and Military

12  Affairs recommended the following amendment:

13

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 5, between lines 16 and 17,

16

17  insert:

18         Section 2.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the

19  contrary, the governing body of a municipality or a county

20  containing a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency brownfield

21  pilot project that was designated as of May 1, 1997, may apply

22  to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development

23  before December 31, 1999, to amend the boundaries of an

24  enterprise zone designated in a municipality or a county

25  containing such brownfield pilot project. The office shall

26  approve the application to amend the boundaries of the

27  enterprise zone if the added area does not increase the

28  overall size of the expanded zone more than its original size

29  or 20 square miles, whichever is larger.
