2 An act relating to South Shore Drainage
3 District, Palm Beach County; amending chapter
4 17259, Laws of Florida, 1935, as amended;
5 revising the boundary line description of South
6 Shore Drainage District located in Palm Beach
7 County and including additional land within the
8 boundaries of the district; amending the plan
9 of reclamation of the district; providing for
10 the equal assessment of benefits for all lands
11 within the district; providing an effective
12 date.

14 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
15
16 Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 17259, Laws of
17 Florida, 1935, as amended, is amended to read:
18 (Substantial rewording of section. See
19 s. 2 of chapter 17259, Laws of Florida, 1935, as
20 amended, for present text.)
21 Section 2. That for the purpose of reclaiming and
22 draining the lands hereinafter described and improving said
23 lands by means of the construction of canals and ditches and
24 making said lands available and habitable, and for the
25 maintenance thereof, and authorizing the cutting and
26 construction of canals, ditches, dikes, and reservoirs for the
27 benefit of said lands, and protecting the same from the effect
28 of excess water, and making them available for agricultural
29 and sanitary purposes, and for the public convenience and
30 welfare and for public utility and benefit, a drainage
31 district is hereby established and declared to exist, to be

1 known and designated as South Shore Drainage District, the
2 territorial boundaries of which shall be as follows:

4 Commencing at a point being the intersection of
5 the west right-of-way line of the Everglades
6 Drainage District's North New River Canal with
7 the east and west half section line of Section
8 14, Township 44 South, Range 36 East;
9
10 Thence west along the aforesaid half section
11 line of Section 14, 3,722 feet, more or less,
12 to a point whence the quarter corner between
13 Section 14 and Section 15, Township 44 South,
14 Range 36 East, bears west 50 feet distant;
15
16 Thence north 0°7' east along a line parallel to
17 and 50 feet east of the section line between
18 the aforesaid Section 14 and Section 15, a
19 distance of 2,561 feet, more or less, to a
20 point being the intersection with the south
21 boundary of Florida East Coast Railway
22 right-of-way, said point lying 50 feet east,
23 and 81.6 feet south of the section corner
24 common to Sections 10, 11, 14 and 15, Township
25 44 South, Range 36 East;

27 Thence south 89°57' west along the south
28 boundary of the Florida East Coast Railway
29 right-of-way, a distance of 15,915.8 feet, more
30 or less, through Sections 15, 16, and 17 to a
31 point on the section line between Sections 17

6 the southeasterly right-of-way of the L-D2, Hoover Dike a
7 distance of 800 feet, more or less, to the north line of
8 Section 10, Township 44 South, Range 36 East;
9 (b) Thence N36°17'25"E along said Dike right-of-way a
10 distance of 3,253 feet;
11 (c) Thence S54°58'55"E a distance of 4,531 feet to the
12 west right-of-way of the North New River Canal;
13 (d) Thence south along said North New River Canal
14 right-of-way a distance of 5,284 feet, more or less, to the
15 north line of Section 14, Township 44 South, Range 36 East;
16 (e) Thence south along said west North New River Canal
17 right-of-way, a distance of 2,641 feet, more or less, to a
18 point on the east and west half-section line of Section 14,
19 Township 44 South, Range 36 East, being the Point of
20 Beginning.
21 Section 2. Plan of Reclamation.--The Plan of
22 Reclamation for South Shore Drainage District heretofore
23 established is amended and, as amended, is adopted for the
24 district and established as herein stated.
25 A. The existing drainage facilities and drainage
26 system within the territorial boundaries of the district will
27 be utilized under the amended Plan of Reclamation, including
28 levees, canals, channels, laterals, pumping plants, and other
29 structures.
30 B. The pump station building, equipment, and canal
31 systems serving the additional lands shall be deemed to be a

1 part of the district's amended Plan of Reclamation, which will
2 be effective upon the transfer of the aforementioned
3 facilities to the District by the Owner.
4 Section 3. Benefits assessed.--It is hereby
5 ascertained that all lands within the boundaries of the
6 district shall be equally benefited from the water management
7 works, facilities, and improvements as constructed and
8 maintained under the amended Plan of Reclamation and pursuant
9 to the provisions of this act; and, therefore, all said lands
10 in the district shall be assessed equally, by reason of the
11 operation and maintenance of the district's works, facilities,
12 and improvements pursuant to the provisions of this act.
13 Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
14 law.
